Bead Soup Blog Hop Sept 2011

I had the pleasure of being paired with Sharon Palac of BijouxJardin.etsy.com.
The really cool part of having Sharon as a partner is that we must have been reading each others minds the day we picked beads. She and I both sent a flower and a butterfly.
Here's what I sent:



Here is what Sharon sent me:

I was able to make 3 necklaces, a bracelet and earrings with all that Sharon sent! She was very generous. My first design had all the beads in 1 necklace. I had the flower then the glass, then the butterfly, then the pearls, etc... Way too busy. So I decided to work with 1 component at a time. I started with the butterfly.

The beautiful enameled butterfly was paired with a vintage key, a chalcedony briolette, beads from Gaea Cannaday and silks from Marsha Neal. I used the clasp Sharon sent me in this necklace.




The flower came undrilled so I use my new hole punch I bought from Melinda Orr to punch a hole and then I knotted a bird from Gaea, vintaj beads and matte leopard jasper on waxed linen. I didn't use a clasp and you just slip the necklace right over your head.



I made a necklace and bracelet from the pearls, crazy lace agates, czech glass and filigree. For the bracelet I took a cue from the clasp Sharon sent me and I forged my own clasp from copper wire.

    YAY for butterflies and Flowers! I think that's nuts that you picked out almost the same things. Kate and I picked similar color palettes as well. It means it was meant to be! You did beautiful things with your bead mix! I love it all and yay for SILK RIBBON!!

    It's all so FABULOUS!
    I'm totally loving that long piece with the flower. It really is great. Really.
    Of course, that first necklace with the key is an eye catcher as well.
    Lastly, that clasp you made for the bracelet is amazing. I just love it!
    Whew. . .now the rest of the list. I don't know if I can handle it.

    What an amazing array of jewellery pieces. I'm really drawn to the enamelled butterfly piece... the colours remind me of sunset but it's the assymmetry that adds the real punch to the necklace. Keeping the clasp towards the front just adds more interest to it. I really like all the pieces you created... great work!

    What a coincidence both you and your partner picked a butterfly and a flower for your soups - yet they still were completely different. And I really like what you've come up with, so many different pieces! Love the butterfly necklace, the silk ribbon compliments the focal perfectly, and the briolette adds a nice splash of color.

    Oh, jumping up and down! Those are all gorgeous! And you made your own clasp, you talented woman. (I know, there are lots of you that can do that, but I can't, so color me impressed) Love that silk cord, perfectly matches the butterfly.     I really like all the things you made out of this bead hop. The butterfly is so sweet. Using the fiber seemed to be just what it needed to really unique. Loved the key. And the bird with the flower, that is like a little story. All very nice.
