Challenge of Color and Finally Friday

If you are a follower of my blog you know I love color challenges. I was so excited for this challenge and when I received my e-mail from Erin where she gave me two color palettes to choose from I let out a little squeal. I chose to make something for both color palettes because I liked them both.

First up I chose this Vintaj butterfly. From it I wire wrapped a lampwork glass bead and an agate.

Then I wire wrapped a porcelain button with a teardrop chalcedony.

To finish the necklace I wire wrapped dozens of smoky quartz beads.

For palette #2 I started with the blue focal from Round Rabbit.

To it I wire wrapped lampwork glass beads, gemstones and porcelain beads.
To finish I added a lampwork glass dangle.

Finally Friday

Today is also the reveal of what I made from this Design-Seeds palette:
warm escape

I started with this beautiful handmade button.

To the button I wire wrapped several chalcedony teardrops.

For the chain I wire wrapped crystals and these striped teardrop glass beads.

The result is a simple, pretty and flirty necklace.

Here is the palette for December 14th:
winter tints

Can't you feel the cold air hitting your lungs when you look at this picture?
Stunning!

Hope to see you back here in 2 weeks!

Finally Friday

prickly purples

This is a great color palette isn't it? Love purple.

Here is what I made:

I was playing with 2 of the buttons I bought at the Sheep and Woll festival. Then I added beads from Humblebeads, Gaea, Vintaj, PinkBeach, and some glass seed beads from TwistedSistah.

These 2 necklace obviously fall into my current theme of In Circles :-)

Here is the palette for next time - 2 weeks:

warm escape

How beautiful is that? I am freezing right now, it's about 20 degrees here in NY.
Brrr... I would love to hang out in that hammock :-)

Hope you have a great Friday and I hope to see you link up your blog in 2 weeks for Finally Friday
~Shannon

ps: you do not have to use all the colors in the palette

Tuesday Tips and Art Jewelry Elements Reveal

I love how these came out. They are Gelish and I wish I could remember the name of the color but I am so sorry I can't remember. I was so proud of myself because the brush was all messed up in the bottle so I grabbed my trusty gel brush and applied this color that way :-)
I was so not telling my client I couldn't use the color she picked!

I was the lucky winner of these beaded beads and beaded leaf from my friend Kristen Stevens.
I had to beg to get these beads back from my daughter, she thought they looked like berries and was feeding them to her dolls.

I created this bracelet from the beads. I added acorn bead caps from Vintaj to the beaded beads.
I layered this Vintaj leaf on top of the beaded leaf for some interest and some additional texture.
I found these lampwork glass from PinkBeach, Polymer beads from Humblebeads, pearls from Hobby Lobby and a dozen or so spacer beads all from my stash.

Visit Art Jewelry Elements Blog to see what the other hoppers made!

Finally Friday - Autumn Dew Reveal

Hello, Hello!
It's Friday. WooHoo :-)
Okay I am bias, I am off on Friday's.
I can't wait to show you the necklace I made this past weekend.
How fabulous is this color palette? I was worried about it but once I started designing it all came together beautifully.

Design-Seeds Autumn Dew

It all started with this beautiful Marsha Neal Studio pendant.

Then I added the periwinkle lucite round bead, hand wire wrapped it to the handmade lampwork glass bead from PinkBeach which I wire wrapped to a snow quartz round.

On the other side of the necklace I hand wire wrapped this porcelain donut from Round Rabbit to an etched copper circle which I made and I domed upward to give it a bowl like feeling, that was wire wrapped to a pink glass bead.
Up the back of the necklace are rose quarts lentil shaped beads which are separated by farfalle beads multiple shades of pink and purple.

I love how this necklace turned out. I wore it to work on Wednesday with a purple sweater to make sure it is comfortable and I kept forgetting I had it on.

Here is the palette I will be working with for next Friday, I do hope you will join me!

Finally Friday - Cloud Tones

cloud tones
Design-Seeds - Cloud Tones

Here is what I was inspired to make this week:
the turquoise beads are vintage lucite, the brown beads are glass and the whitish beads are snow quartz.
I have hand wire wrapped each bead individually to make the chain.

The pendant is from Kabella, I bought a grab bag from them at a show and this was in there. I found a tiny brown glass flower and layered it, a blue glass flower and the pendant. I used a headpin and wire wrapped the three together and made a top loop to create this pretty pendant. It was the jumping off point for this pretty, simple necklace.

Tuesday Tips and Echo Creative Club Reveal

Today is a Tuesday Two-fer :-)
Here are a set of nails I did this week:

These are like Pink and White acrylic nails but I replaced the White acrylic with a Black acrylic mix I made myself. The mix has black acrylic, black glitter, hologram glitter and some clear acrylic to make it a bit less messy.

Now for what I made with the piece I was sent for this month's Echo Creative Club:

How beautiful is that flower? I was tickled pink when I opened my envelope!

Here is the bracelet I made with that awesome flower.
I added the ceramic bird and ceramic round bead on either side of the clasp.
They are both from Gaea Cannaday.
Then I found these pretty peach, pink and white potato pearls in my bead box so I made a double strand into a single strand bracelet.
At the clasp is a glass flower, a glass bead and a single pearl dangle.

Thank you Jeannie, I love this flower and I think the bracelet is pretty darn great too ;-)

Shannon Chomanczuk http://www.formysweetdaughter.blogspot.com/ <--that's me!

So what do you think?
Would you wear black nails? yes, no, why or why not?
Do you like the bracelet? Too sweet or just sweet enough?

Beads Of Clay Designer Challenge Reveal

I was sent the above selection of beads (thanks Cilla for the picture) and given the opportunity to participate in the Beads of Clay Designer Challenge.
Beads were sent by:
Marla James
Karen Totten
Janel Goolsby
Julie McKee Rowe
Eleanor Thomas
Kristi Bowman-Gruel

The rules were simple make 1 pair of earrings and 1 necklace and you must use everything you were sent. Yikes! I didn't think I could do it and it took over 4 hours to make the necklace but I did it! Yes I did. I used everything I was sent and made only 1 necklace and 1 pair of earrings.

I love the dangle detail in the front and especially love the earrings. They are long shoulder dusters and are just fun to wear. The necklace is busier than I would normally make and wear but it is growing on me and I am actually starting to like it.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you will head to the Beads of Clay blog to see the other participants.
