I love buttons! I beg friends, family and clients to bring me buttons. I have jars of buttons and I have bought clothes from thrift stores just to cut the buttons off of them.
The task was to send your partner a minimum of 3 bottons.
The goal was to create at least one thing jewelry or not using at least 1 of the buttons.
I know exactly what this one will become |
I have no idea what I want to do with these |
I was paired up with Kristie of Artisan Clay to swap buttons with.
Kristie sent me 4 beautiful buttons.
I had an idea for one of the buttons almost immediately but I must admit I ran out of supplies and never made anything with that button. The other two buttons have sat on my table forever and I still don't know what I want to do with them. At first I said earrings but then I thought if I broke them up I could use them in 2 different projects.
Here is what I made with the shank button Kristie sent me.
The funny part of the whole thing is that when I first opened the box I thought to myself what the heck am I going to make with a shank button. I have never used a shank button in my jewelry before.
So I turned said button into a clasp for a monochromatic bracelet in the most beautiful blue color.
I wore this beauty to church a couple of weeks ago (yes I was finished early) and I am in love.
It is comfortable but has some weight behind it.
You know the kind of bracelet you know is still on your wrist.
Thank you for stopping by I hope you like what I made with my button.

I love what you did Shannon, this is a great swap. So many swaps and hops so little time lol!!
That turned out gorgeous. Even though I'm not a big fan of blue, I love what you did with that button. I'm surprised someone didn't try to buy it off you when you wore it.
What a lovely bracelet! The colors are just gorgeous!
I love it! you did a fabulous job!!!!
Wow! I love what you did made with just one button. Love the color, it's a keeper.
It's beautiful! Love the colors and the wire-wrapping. I can't believe you hadn't used a shank button before--and how funny that it turned out to be the one you used for this project!
What great buttons you received and I love what you did with the shank button.
Oh I love it! Nice and chunky, and the colors are beautiful!
Your bracelet turned out great!
Love the colors! The bracelet sits so nicely on your wrist too...great job :-)
Very pretty! I see earrings with the sweet pair you received!
That bracelet is FUN, fun, fun!! I adore what you did with the button. . .a shank button no less. I too have issues with shank buttons and am working to break out of that confinement. My partner sent me all shank buttons, so that really helped to challenge me as well.
In any case, I can't wait to see what you make with the other three buttons. No matter what, I know it will be spectacular!
Love it!! My favorite colors...the button is awesome!
How cute =)
That is gorgeous. Love the colours.
Oh Shannon you know I am in love once again with another of your stunning and whispering creations. (We have talked about how they talk to me right?) I will someday have one of these gorgeous babies for myself I swear it!!!
Your work really blows me away!
What a beautiful bracelet! The colors and design are wonderful. Please post what you do with the rest of the buttons. Love your work!
I can see why you fell in love with it -- it's very, very pretty!
Really beautiful bracelet, I love the color!!
Very pretty! Makes me think of summer and fun!
Shannon, you sure made an incredible piece with your button. I love the chunky design, that gorgeous blue color, and the button as a clasp/focal! No wonder you were inspired to work on it early on and are already wearing it out and about! :-)
And I do love what you made with your button!
Love your bracelet. The colors are gorgeous. I can see you will have fun wearing this.
Very nice bracelet/colors really showcase the beautiful button!
Shannon! I love how you used the shank button. Your bracelet looks like a perfect match with denim too.....and I live in denim. The chunky natural stones are right up my alley too... Please let me know if you get around to the other buttons, I'd love to see what you do.
Shannon, coming to this party late, but I'm so loving your bracelet! It's gorgeous...blue is one of my favorite colors to create with :)
That bracelet is so clever the beads really set the button off. Be Blessed
I love the bracelet! Using the button for a clasp was a great idea.

I love what you did with that shank button, Shannon! That color blue is so faded, like your favorite pair of jeans (okay, maybe from the 80s but still!). And I quite like the new header and fresh look of your blog. It feels like spring in here.
Sorry I am late to the party. Last week was not a time to be hopping (unless you were a bunny! ;-). Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the day! Erin
