Challenge of Music

Join the Challenge of Music
Blog Hop February 29th

Welcome to the Challenge of Music Blog Hop!

I saw a call from my friend Erin of the blog Treasures Found and had to sign up. My current favorite song
is Set Fire to the Rain by Adele so I immediately signed up with that song. I thought I had plenty of time but when I started to work on my polymer clay beads for the necklace I have envisioned I realized I didn't have a ton of time or the skills to make polymer clay beads :-/ What I envisioned turned into big, brown, blobs. Not exactly the look I was going for :-/

Oh well back to the drawing board for me.

I like to think of songs as colors. I close my eyes and listen to songs in vibrant colors bursting out from the speakers. I know I am odd. This song always looks like yellow, orange, red and blue to me so those are the colors I wanted to use. I ended up making 2 pieces inspired by this song.

Anyway here is what I made and I have added the lyrics to the song in case you haven't heard it before.

Bracelet:

I made 2 etched copper hearts and joined them together with wire. I thought this symbolized the 2 hearts that can never be together, they are so close but being separated by the twisting, twirling wires, much like his lies and deceit in the song. I then wire wrapped red sea glass, I made my own copper clasp and added a tiny blue heart from Mary Harding. I felt the blue symbolized the rain and her moving on.

Necklace:

My wonderful husband brought me home this handmade wood heart after I had a meltdown at my polymer clay beads turning to doodoo. I had told him my vision and he executed it perfectly. I added coral and wire wrapped Jade beads.

I hope you will visit the other participants. I will be hoping around all throughout the next few days when I have a few minutes free.

Thanks for stopping by!

"Set Fire To The Rain"

I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my lips and you saved me

My hands, they're strong
But my knees were far too weak
To stand in your arms
Without falling to your feet

But there's a side to you
That I never knew, never knew.
All the things you'd say
They were never true, never true,
And the games you play
You would always win, always win.

[Chorus:]
But I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

When I lay with you
I could stay there
Close my eyes
Feel you here forever
You and me together
Nothing is better

'Cause there's a side to you
That I never knew, never knew,
All the things you'd say,
They were never true, never true,
And the games you play
You would always win, always win.

[Chorus:]
But I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

I set fire to the rain
And I threw us into the flames
Where it felt something die
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time!

Sometimes I wake up by the door,
That heart you caught must be waiting for you
Even now when we're already over
I can't help myself from looking for you.

[Chorus:]
I set fire to the rain,
Watched it pour as I touched your face,
Well, it burned while I cried
'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

I set fire to the rain,
And I threw us into the flames
Where it felt something die
'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, oh, ohhhh!

What I am cooking up

This has been a crazy week.
I know a cold is my bodies way of telling me to slow down but I am pretty slow all the time anyway. If I slow down anymore I am going to be moving backwards. Lol
But seriously, I didn't think I was doing too much till I sat to write this post.
Here are some things I am working on:

Bead Soup due March 3rd.
I got my beads from my partner Rochelle Brisson of Sea Chelles Design, visit her blog here A Creative Chelle. Out of my comfort zone for sure but that's the fun part of these hops!

Bead Soup Blog Party

The Challenge of Music due Feb 29th. I have a song picked but haven't started working on my piece yet. All I am gonna tell you is that I love Adele ;-)

Echo Creative Club due Feb 25th:
Got my beads, made an awesome necklace, took pictures, working on the blog post this afternoon :-)

Andrew Thornton's February Challenge also due Feb 25th:
Necklace finished, photographed and I am working on some other pieces because this kit was huge.

The colors of spring blog hop due March 31st. Got my beads, have been sketching what I want to make but haven't had a chance to make anything yet.

And finally I am a member of the Allegory Design Team due Feb 28th.
My pieces are made and photographed, now all I need to do is write up the instructions and get them to Andrew :-)

Whew! I can now see why I got sick. I love all these challenges and they push me creatively but I think I may have over done it for February. I have never been pushed so far creatively though and that is fueling my fire. All of the pieces I have been sent are out of my comfort zone and that is awesome. I hope you will keep following me to see what I have made for each of these challenges.
