Challenge of Color and Finally Friday

If you are a follower of my blog you know I love color challenges. I was so excited for this challenge and when I received my e-mail from Erin where she gave me two color palettes to choose from I let out a little squeal. I chose to make something for both color palettes because I liked them both.

First up I chose this Vintaj butterfly. From it I wire wrapped a lampwork glass bead and an agate.

Then I wire wrapped a porcelain button with a teardrop chalcedony.

To finish the necklace I wire wrapped dozens of smoky quartz beads.

For palette #2 I started with the blue focal from Round Rabbit.

To it I wire wrapped lampwork glass beads, gemstones and porcelain beads.
To finish I added a lampwork glass dangle.

Finally Friday

Today is also the reveal of what I made from this Design-Seeds palette:
warm escape

I started with this beautiful handmade button.

To the button I wire wrapped several chalcedony teardrops.

For the chain I wire wrapped crystals and these striped teardrop glass beads.

The result is a simple, pretty and flirty necklace.

Here is the palette for December 14th:
winter tints

Can't you feel the cold air hitting your lungs when you look at this picture?
Stunning!

Hope to see you back here in 2 weeks!
~Shannon

Finally Friday

prickly purples

This is a great color palette isn't it? Love purple.

Here is what I made:

I was playing with 2 of the buttons I bought at the Sheep and Woll festival. Then I added beads from Humblebeads, Gaea, Vintaj, PinkBeach, and some glass seed beads from TwistedSistah.

These 2 necklace obviously fall into my current theme of In Circles :-)

Here is the palette for next time - 2 weeks:

warm escape

How beautiful is that? I am freezing right now, it's about 20 degrees here in NY.
Brrr... I would love to hang out in that hammock :-)

Hope you have a great Friday and I hope to see you link up your blog in 2 weeks for Finally Friday
~Shannon

ps: you do not have to use all the colors in the palette

Finally Friday - Dried Tones

Design Seeds - Dried Tones

I made the pendant from a Vintaj blank, I love the swirls!
Then I added glass teardrops, vintage lucite and lampwork glass beads (not sure who made them)

Here is the palette for next week:
color pick
Design-Seeds Color Pick
Yikes! This is SO out of my comfort zone. Let's see if I can make anything :-)
I hope someone will play along :-( I have been having so much fun doing these but it is pretty boring all alone.
What would help you to play? Two weeks to make something? Bring the InLinkz thingy back? Help!

Make an item or choose materials inspired by the palette and write a blog post about it, post the item for sale, or post the item on your website. Add the link to your blog post, shop or website in the comments next week.
The only rule is that if you use the Design-Seeds palette you must link directly to http://www.Design-Seeds.com
Have fun and I can't wait to see what you make!

Also, I have come up with what I think is a great way to share what my readers are making. If you e-mail be by 6pm the night before (so Thursday night) I will happily share a picture of what you made and a link to your shop, blog, etc in my post. So make sure to send me an e-mail at formysweetdaughter@me.com before 6pm next thurs to have your item featured on my blog.

Finally Friday - Autumn Dew Reveal

Hello, Hello!
It's Friday. WooHoo :-)
Okay I am bias, I am off on Friday's.
I can't wait to show you the necklace I made this past weekend.
How fabulous is this color palette? I was worried about it but once I started designing it all came together beautifully.

autumn dew
Design-Seeds Autumn Dew

It all started with this beautiful Marsha Neal Studio pendant.

Then I added the periwinkle lucite round bead, hand wire wrapped it to the handmade lampwork glass bead from PinkBeach which I wire wrapped to a snow quartz round.

On the other side of the necklace I hand wire wrapped this porcelain donut from Round Rabbit to an etched copper circle which I made and I domed upward to give it a bowl like feeling, that was wire wrapped to a pink glass bead.
Up the back of the necklace are rose quarts lentil shaped beads which are separated by farfalle beads multiple shades of pink and purple.

I love how this necklace turned out. I wore it to work on Wednesday with a purple sweater to make sure it is comfortable and I kept forgetting I had it on.

Here is the palette I will be working with for next Friday, I do hope you will join me!

Finally Friday

agate blues
Design-Seeds

For as inspired by the fall palette from last week I was at a loss when it came to this blue/gray palette. I did manage to make something but it was not easy and I had hoped to make more pieces.
I do like what I made however. It is a pretty Czech glass and Smoky Quartz bracelet with glass flowers and this etched copper dragonfly necklace.

Here is the palette for next week:

Love this color palette! We went to my In-Law's house upstate over the holiday weekend and I took my beading supplies with me. I made so many pieces of jewelry inspired by this palette.

Finally Friday

autumn tones
Design-Seeds

How beautiful is this palette?
I loved working with it and made a necklace and bracelet set.

It all started with the etched copper birdcage. First I made the part with all the hand wire wrapped beads, then I strung the rounds to create the back of the necklace. I could have stopped there but I tried the necklace on and immediately envisioned 3 strands of beads dangling from the bottom of the pendant.

I am still working on editing my white background pictures but I think I am getting better.
