One very strange night

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
On either Wednesday or Thursday after hubby and I came home from work a few things were turned over. We didn't think much of it because we have been getting mice in the traps for a few days, 4 or 5 so far. Hubby found the hole where he thought the mice were coming down from the attic and patched it. It was a hole where we had removed a wire and it had duck tape over it while waiting to be patched. The mice ate through the tape. I was sure that the traps would get whatever had been in the house.

During the night I heard some noises, I thought they were from the attic.

Yesterday afternoon Emily and I laid down for an afternoon nap. I heard the noises again and thanked God that whatever it was was staying in the attic. Later that night I was not feeling very well so Emily and I had a treat and had dinner in my bed. I heard some noises and pointed it out to my husband.
We put Emily to bed and I turned in early. I watched some tv and as soon as I turned it off I heard the noises. I made hubby come in and of course he heard nothing. He said don't worry and go to bed.
I laid down again and the noises started almost immediately. He was up watching tv so I made him come and sit in the room with me, no tv, no lights. After almost an hour of this, with both of us falling in and out of sleep, we heard the noises. Hubby said that's not from the attic I think it is in the wall or basement.

At this point Emily starts screaming for help because she wet the bed! My daughter has almost never wet the bed. Hubby and I went in changed the bed, washed and changed her, and put her back to bed.

Hubby stopped to listen to the noises again and then was convinced it was in the wall. He moved the bed away from the wall and signaled me to leave the room. I ran to the kitchen and jumped on a chair convinced it was a mouse.

He ran into the kitchen and yelled it's a squirrel, it's a squirrel under the bed.

Omg! I ran to Emily's room and slammed the door. From my bedroom all I could hear was furniture being tossed around and hubby yelling. Several thuds and 30 minutes later hubby said you can come out now. He had gotten the squirrel to run up a piece of wood and out the window.

After a thorough look outside our house this afternoon hubby figured out that the squirrel had eaten a hole in the soffit above the bedroom window and got into the attic from there he must have used the hole the mice had been using. Once he patched the hole the squirrel had nowhere to go so it hid in my bedroom.

All of the holes are now patched and a have a heart trap is being given to us tomorrow just in case it or it's friends have decided to live in the attic.

My Cutie

My 3 year old loves to sing.

She makes up her own songs like "Pj don't be scared, don't be scared, I am on the swing" when her cousin was scared to go on the swings and the ever popular "wash, wash, wash" song when she was washing the bathtub.
I had to laugh this evening though because we still use a baby monitor and from her room you could hear
"I'm chillin' on a dirt road, laid back like I'm George Jones"
"ice cold beer in console"
She is so funny sometimes.

Like last night when she was asking about babies
Emily: "Mama, how did I get in your tummy before I been borned?" (Yup, borned)
Me: "How do you think Emily?"
Emily: "Maybe you thought I was chicken"
I tried not to laugh because she's little sensitive but that was too cute.

This afternoon I took her with me to Marshall's and I was trying on shoes. She started yelling "they don't match, you have 2 different ones on." It was so funny. Oh and at the bank she had on her Minnie Mouse sunglasses and the tellers were saying how cute she looked.
She looks up at me and says "why are they talking to me"
Me: "because they like your glasses"
Emily: "well they can't have 'em."
:-)

Here is the start to a necklace I am working on. I have been drawn to eggs and birds lately. I am not sure if it because it feels like spring here, because we had a little baby Cardinal born in the bush outside our door or if it just because I love birds. I have been working with a graphic designer to revamp my logo, which is 2 birds. When my daughter was a baby she had the tiniest mouth which she would open like a little bird when she was hungry. So my little birds began. My business has grown and so has my vision for my business so I wanted a more upscale logo. I will unveil the new logo soon.

Here are the beads I was sent for the Echo Creative Club. They are stunning! I am not sure if I will make 2 thing, 1 with the yellow beads -earrings perhaps and another with the red or if I will make 1 piece combining them both.

Stop back the 25th and find out :-)

A little of this and a little of that

So this morning my daughter (3 in June) tried to climb out of her crib. We knew it was getting close to the time when we would need a bed and well that day was today.
Hubby and I went out and got her a toddler bed with her Christmas money (thanks mom and dad) and I made the bed with her princess set (thanks Aunt Kris and Uncle Tommy). She hopped right in and took a nap :-) She went to sleep in the bed tonight so my fingers are crossed she stays there!

Okay so this is my kitchen counter. I am so sick of my nice new, almost finished kitchen looking like this.
However, I have a ton of copper orders (thank you) to get done when my copper order comes in so the solution?

Meet the solution! This super cute box fits most of my supplies in it and it is portable, convenient and looks cute. I left it right on the counter!

Yay for storage solutions!

I hit the bead lottery last week when Fallalery was destashing some vintage lucite beads.

Yup, bead lottery. You know. The kind of bead lottery you sit right down in the middle of the living room floor and bust open the bag.

The bag that was so huge that it didn't fit in the mailbox and it had no fillers! It was a huge bag of beads.
The biggest bag of beads I have ever seen in my life.

My little helper was so excited she promptly got to work emptying the bag and sorting the beads. Two for me, one for you, three for me, one for you :-)

Who Me???

Just after this shot she dropped down on the floor and rolled in the beads. You, that kind of bead lotto. I was laughing so hard I couldn't grab the camera. I was laughing 'cuz the beads felt so good on my back ;-)

I am the Worst Mama Ever

I want to say thanks to everyone that visited my button post and left a comment.
I am really busy (will get to that later) so I may not get around to responding to everyone's e-mail till later in the week.

Why are you so busy Shannon?

Well thanks for asking, I am so busy because, get this: A store in my area requested that I come in tomorrow to show them my work! Holy Moly! I almost died when she said she wanted to see me and my work as soon as possible for holiday shopping. Once I beat back the fear monger panic set in. I am working on an open house for the salon, working in the salon (I own the shop and do nails 30+ hrs a week), trying to prepare my house for the holidays (occupancy really we are under construction), move my craft supplies into the spare bedroom, organize said supplies, take 2 e-courses, make more jewelry for Bliss in Sugar Loaf, NY,  make more jewelry for the salon, make more etched copper for sale, oh yeah and be a wife and mother.
To say that I am tired is an understatement. I am sure most are rolling their eyes because they do all this while standing on 1 foot, juggling 4 kids as a single mother, working full time and feeding the homeless. I however am not a super hero and get tired. I am tired all the time lately. I am sure it is hormones, being overweight or just being so stressed but it stinks. I always say that I could get so much more done if I didn't need sleep.

Now onto why I am the worst mama.
I thought I was doing everything right. I had a natural birth, breastfed, made my own baby food, I tried cloth diapers (just ewww), we limit tv, and sugar, and read no less than 10 book a day.

The other night while my daughter and I were playing with her piano I wanted a turn to show her how it worked. It has a light that you follow to play a "real" song. Okay well miss Emily didn't want me to have a turn and pushed me out of the way. So I said "you're no fun."

You would have thought I told her I was never going to see her again, ever. She started crying, no scratch that, sobbing. Hysterically. Uncontrollably. Sobbing. My heart broke. I said I am sorry in every way I know how. I said I didn't mean it. I explained why I said it. I told her I'd give her a cupcake if she forgave me. Yes, that worked.
Today, 3 days later, while she was playing with her dolls her Mama doll told her Emily doll that she was no fun.

Ugh, kid you're killing me.
