Finally Friday

Hello, it's Finally Friday time!
Here is the inspiration from Design-Seeds:

I chose to make this post a twofer. Okay, it was a happy accident. I designed this bracelet Saturday and was hoping to make some other things for today's post but had a horrible week at the salon and never got around to making anything else.

I am a member of the Allegory Gallery Design Team and I used beads from the package of beads I was sent- the prettiest yellow colored glass cubes.

Leaf chain from Lima Beads

I also made this lovely pair of earrings:

Challenge of Literature Blog Hop

Welcome to the Challenge of Literature Blog Hop reveal!

When I saw Erin's call for participants I sent her an e-mail immediately.
I knew the exact book I wanted to use for the challenge.
It was a book I read almost 100 times while I was in grade school.
I would always cry at the end of the book and yet I read it again and again.

Say Goodnight, Gracie by Julie Reece Deaver

From the back cover:
Seventeen-year old Morgan Hackett and her best friend Jimmy have known each other all their lives.  They hang out together. Best friends for life. As they break into the Chicago theater scene to pursue their goals as actors, however, the're discovering that they're on the brink of something more than just friendship. So how could life be so right and then so wrong? After a terrible accident, Morgan suddenly has to face life alone. Without Jimmy around, though, it's like the best part of her has died. How could he do this to her? As she begins a downward spiral into depression, she wonders how she will ever cope without the one person in the world who understands her.

I didn't have a copy of the book when I signed up for the blog hop. I hadn't read the book in a while and I wanted to be in the brains of the character's before I made anything so I went on Half.com and bought the book. I read it in less than a week. I cried in all the same spots, I can remember how I felt when I read the book when I was young. I remembering wanting the be their friend.

I decided to make a bracelet using my most memorable quote in the book:

"Knowing what you have to lose, but risking the loss anyway."

I wanted the bracelet to be lightweight and simple because that is what would suit Morgan's personality. I can picture her playing with the heart and key dangle while waiting for the train into the city. I can hear the charms dangling as she rehearses for a play. I can see her running her thumb over the stamping thinking of Jimmy.

Thanks for visiting!

Buttons

Here she is all ready to go to the Stormville Antique and Flea Market
She loves to go shopping and especially loves Stormville. She find really cute things too!

We went on Saturday and it was Hot! The cool part was the TV station HGTV was there filming for a show Flea Market Finds. I can't wait to see the show because everywhere we went that day there was someone with a camera. I was pouting though because a cabinet I wanted was bought by the show :-(

I didn't buy this tool chest but isn't it cool? We must have walked by it 20 times.

I scored this awesome tin of old buttons and have been having so much fun filtering through.

See the buckle like piece in the back? There were about 5 or 6 of those, they are Mother of Pearl and I am envisioning layering them with some etched copper... hmmm

and here is my cutie again, she wanted to show off her Leopard when she saw I was taking pictures of the buttons she said take my picture mommy.

Hope you are having a great week!

Echo Creative Club and Finally Friday

Hello :-)
I have a 2 part post for you today.
Today is the reveal for the Echo Creative Club and it's Finally Friday time!

I am going to start with the Echo Creative Club reveal.

I made a simple pair of earrings with the 6 beads I was sent. I am loving the style of earring I made during the button blog hop so I decided to make a similar pair for this post too. They are a great little pair of swingy earrings and would be perfect with jeans.

Anklets, a Chipmunk and a Dress Form

Cryptic title I know but I have several things I wanted to share with you today.
First, I got a dress form a couple years ago. She was pretty beat up, hey for $3.00 what do you expect. She didn't have a stand and I really wanted her to have a stand.
So, the joy of having a carpenter husband is that when I ask for things like this they show up eventually.

This little guy scared me when I was sitting at the beading table the other day.
He climbed the screen door!

So cute, but please stay outside

What have I been working on?
ANKLETS
Tons of anklets :-)

This first anklet is cool, it's a necklace...

It's an anklet...

It's a necklace :-)

Another anklet

Fringy shells

So flirty and cute

You can stamp an initial or a heart, star, flower or I could just hammer the little copper disc.

Looks really cute layered with the fringy one too :-)

Seahorse, Chalcedony and pearls could it get any more summery?

This one has one of my soldered, hammered copper rings. Love it!

Well that's all for now.
Hope you are having a great weekend.
We are potty training my almost 3 year old so I am sure it will be interesting  :-D

I started with these beautiful frosty blue Czech Glass beads

then I added some snow quartz

an etched copper bar with music notes on it

some Czech glass flowers on handmade copper ball headpins

and finally I added my super duper, totally awesome, handmade copper clasp.
I love making these and you will be seeing them in almost everything I make now :-)
